ADA: Keys to Compliance
Room Number: 109
Presenter(s): Joan W. Stein, President & CEO, Accessibility Development Associates, Inc.
Although the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has been a federal law since 1990, there are many professionals who still question the many facets of the law and its regulations. That’s not unusual. The ADA is a complex, federal civil rights law, not a building code. There are some key components to ADA compliance that are important for any facility or design professional to understand and incorporate into their work. Joan W. Stein will present an interactive and lively program that will focus on the keys to ADA compliance. Her no-nonsense and common-sense approach to understanding the ADA and its requirements will be useful, understandable and educational.
Learning Objective:
1. Understand the differences between the Federal ADA requirements and building codes
2. Evaluate their organization’s own efforts toward ADA compliance and potential risk for litigation
