Case Studies in Asset Prioritization
Room Number: 112
Presenter(s): Jim Turner, Senior Associate, AECOM
Despite the challenges that arise from the often subjective nature of investment decision making, asset and project prioritization remain important to facilities management organizations (FMOs) for several reasons:
-
Rapidly degrading condition of infrastructure and assets
- Shortage of resources/funding for renewal
- Underutilization due to changes and realignments
- Financial, historical, environmental, and institutional difficulties for aligning and disposing assets
This session draws reviews case studies from over 60 consulting engagements to provide an overview of the approaches that today’s FMOs are using to negotiate funding requests for maintaining their asset portfolios.
Learning Objective:
1. Understand the facility decision drivers that make asset and project prioritization as important as ever in today’s challenged investment funding environment
2. Learn how to make the connection between asset alignment, enterprise-level strategy, and the capital improvements plan
3. Identify best practice resources, prioritization tools, and other organizations’ examples that may be useful to your organization
